Enormous simplification of planning processes

Reliability for over 100 years - that is what Frachtrasch international, based in Braunschweig, has stood for, offering its customers transport cost optimization and digital freight auditing as a consulting service. For 15 years, Frachtrasch has relied on the PLANTOUR, MAPSERVICES and PASS MAPS software applications from Aschaffenburg-based PASS Logistics Solutions AG as part of its services.

Carsten Keune, who is responsible for IT/application development/programming in the Frachtrasch management team and has been on board since the introduction of PLANTOUR, remembers: “We carried out an analysis in 2009 and evaluated several route planning systems. PLANTOUR quickly stood out from the crowd for us. Even back then, one of the main reasons was the customizability of the application. The algorithm also simplified our planning processes enormously.”

Together with Frachtrasch, PASS Logistics Solutions AG, a subsidiary of the PASS Consulting Group, further developed the solution over the following decade and also responded to numerous customer requests. Since 2022, Frachtrasch has also been using the new hybrid PLANTOUR version in combination withMAPSERVICES and, as an additional tool, the cloud solution PASS MAPS, which celebrated its market launch in May 2023.

Freight cost and logistics optimization

Frachtrasch carries out strategic transport cost optimization for many hundreds of companies as part of its core business. All planning data, for example in the areas of sea freight, air freight, trucks and CEP (courier, express and parcel services), is analyzed and then evaluated. The aim is to create more cost-effective and high-performance transport logistics.

Frachtrasch has already helped several thousand companies realize major freight cost savings with the help of its consulting services. The company's own claim: “Reduce logistics costs using the greatest possible specialist expertise and by using all digital means!”

The software solutions from PASS Logistics Solutions AG are among the digital applications used for this. While the PLANTOUR route scheduling software - which Frachtrasch installed itself on site - is used for extensive and far-reaching customer projects, the company uses PASS MAPS to quickly check individual routes and arrival times. The lightweight web app impresses with its fast usability and is available directly from the PASS server, from the cloud, anywhere (including mobile). The advantage of this is that sensitive customer/shipment data remains in Frachtrasch's secure system and only geo-relevant data is used for route calculations via the cloud solution. 

Fast calculation of delivery routes

“Of course, PLANTOUR has far more options in terms of display and optimization, but the new PASS MAPS also had its appeal for us right from the start. We mainly use it for quick calculations on the side, without having to create an extensive project,” says Keune.
